Marco Raposo's work begins with studies of the soil that nourish the precious Pernambuco wood, the bow's main raw material, (only mature trees that are over thirty years old are used) and includes meticulous attention to the bow's acclimatization phase during the final stage of production. These studies led to a Reforestation Project, which will protect a natural resource for future generations.

These exclusive designs are made of recycled wood from old Brazilian colonial farm fences. The quality of these wood blocks is superior in comparison to other available wood used in the market, because is has naturally dried out over many years.

Matt Stamell first met Marco Raposowhen he was working for an airline in 1989. Marco traveled around and brought bows from one of the Brazilian bow making workshops. Little did we know that he would go on to found one of the premier bow making workshops of the world in his native Brasil. Today Raposo bows has taken a lead role in the preservation and reforestation of pernambuco, the best wood still for bow making. Marco visits Stamell Strings regularly, continuing the long relationship and bringing some of his best bows to our shop.
