Cello Bow by Dominique Peccatte
In the pantheon of bowmakers, Dominique Peccatte (1810 – 1874) is second only Francois Xavier Tourte.
Born in Mirecourt, France, Dominique went to work for Jean Baptiste Vuillaume in 1826 where he received his first professional experience in the world of bow making. Many bows made in the Vuillaume shop between 1826 and 1838 show the hand of Peccatte. Some time around 1838 Peccatte took over the shop of Francois Lupot in Paris and subsequently became one of the leading bowmakers in France. He remained in Paris until 1847 when he returned to Mirecourt, working almost until his death in 1874.

Available for trial: Our first cello bow is exquisite, with an elegant ‘swan head’, original frog and button, and a deep reddish brown stick with exceptional weight, balance and camber. The stick is branded Peccatte above the frog in the French style. It has been the property of one owner since 1957.

Recently Sold: The second cello bow is of the typical ‘hatchet head’ style. It is a wonderful bow with exceptional Pernambuco, original silver mounted frog and button and excellent play-ability. 
 
These bows were owned by a noted professional player for many years. Stamell Stringed Instruments is honored to have been selected to handle the sale of these fine bows.
