Marten Cornelissen, one of the great violin makers of the 20th century, passed away on November 13, 2021 at the age of 85. His instruments have been in the hands of some of the most notable players including Bernard Greenhouse, Yehudi Menuhin, Roel Dietliens, Joel Krosnick, and many other musicians around the world.

To own an instrument made by Marten Cornelissen is to own a little piece of violin making history.

His later instruments reflect the courage he had as he battled vision problems; one will notice a reduction in the level of craftsmanship from his early and middle years. However, the sound of his instruments remained extraordinary until the end.
