About
Kathleen Bowman is a professional cellist and teacher, passionate about the joy of music making, and helping students develop their musical potential. A life-long learner, Kathleen completeed a Master's degree in cello performance from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her deep interest in teaching has led her to pursue Suzuki cello pedagogy training, and in 2012, she completed all Suzuki teacher training courses related to cello. She was awarded a prestigious Pedagogy Fellowship with the Heifetz International Music Institute in 2010. Desiring to serve the needs of young cellists, Ms. Bowman initiated a Suzuki Cello program with the Tennessee Cello Workshop in 2009, creating a multi-dimensional learning experience for students. Mrs. Bowman teaches through discovery learning, and her ability to establish rapport and engage students has initiated the opportunity for her to appear as a guest artist and clinician for the Levine Mu sic School in Washington, D.C., the Birmingham Young Artists' Program, the East Tennessee String Workshop, and the annual Tennessee Cello Workshop. She attended the Bowdoin, Maine, and Hot Springs, Arkansas music festivals, and played with the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra until 2012. Kathleen enjoys communicating with her cello through creative musical projects, performing solo recitals and chamber music.

Kathleen is a member of the American String Teachers' Association and the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and has been teaching children the cello for ten years. She recently relocated with her husband Matt to Saratoga Springs, NY, where she is eager to share her love of the cello and passion for excellence with students of upstate New York.
